Making beef jerky at home is easy and delicious with the air fryer! This Air Fryer Beef Jerky is tender, flavorful, and the best way to prepare your jerky quickly without drying out the meat. Perfect for snacking, travel, or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean beef (flank steak, sirloin, or round steak work well)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef:
Slice the beef into thin strips (about 1/8 inch thick), cutting against the grain for a more tender jerky.
  • Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and ground mustard.
Add the sliced beef to the marinade, making sure the beef is fully coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer:
Preheat the air fryer to 160°F (70°C).
  • Prepare for Cooking:
Remove the beef from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels to ensure a crispier texture.
Arrange the beef strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
  • Cook the Jerky:
Air fry the beef jerky for 2 to 3 hours, flipping halfway through. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the strips and the specific air fryer model. Check the jerky for your desired level of doneness; it should be dry but still slightly bendable.
  • Cool and Store:
Let the beef jerky cool completely before storing. Store in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag. It will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks at room temperature or up to 3 months in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • If you want a sweeter jerky, increase the amount of honey.
  • For more heat, add extra red pepper flakes or a few dashes of hot sauce to the marinade.
  • Make sure to use lean cuts of beef, as excess fat can cause the jerky to spoil more quickly.
  • You can experiment with different seasonings to customize your jerky flavors.
