Description

Freshly pressed sugarcane juice, known as Asab, served chilled with mint and lime for a sweet, earthy, and refreshing drink perfect for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium sugarcane stalks, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 4 to 5 fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the sugarcane into small, manageable pieces.
  2. Run the pieces through a sugarcane juicer to extract the juice.
  3. Stir in the lime juice and crushed mint leaves.
  4. Strain the juice using a fine strainer or cheesecloth to remove pulp.
  5. Chill or pour over ice cubes.
  6. Garnish with a mint sprig and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use young, juicy sugarcane stalks for best flavor.
  • For extra refreshment, chill the serving glasses beforehand.
  • Add ginger or black salt for flavor variation.
