Ingredients
Scale
For the Blackberry Filling:
- 24 ounces fresh or frozen blackberries
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 dash salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 dashes salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray a 3-quart baking dish with pan spray.
- In a medium bowl, toss the blackberries with the sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, make the crumble topping by whisking together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cut in the softened butter with a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the blackberry mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is lightly toasted and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the crumble cool for 5-10 minutes to allow the liquid to thicken slightly before serving.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or creme anglaise if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the crumble topping or mixing in a handful of oats for a heartier texture.
- The crumble can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking.
