This Brownie Pecan Pie combines the best of two beloved desserts: a rich, fudgy brownie layer topped with a sweet and nutty pecan pie filling. The decadent chocolate brownie contrasts beautifully with the caramelized pecans, making this dessert a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. It’s perfect for holidays, potlucks, or just when you need something indulgent!

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownie Layer:
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • For the Pecan Pie Layer:
    • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
    • 3/4 cup corn syrup (light or dark)
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 tablespoon melted butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional Garnish:
    • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie pan or tart pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Make the Brownie Layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined. The mixture will be thick. Spread this brownie batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pie pan.
  • Make the Pecan Pie Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Stir in the pecans, ensuring they are well coated with the mixture.
  • Assemble the Pie: Pour the pecan pie filling evenly over the brownie layer in the pie pan.
  • Bake the Pie: Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the top is set and the edges are golden. A toothpick inserted into the brownie layer should come out with only a few moist crumbs. The pecan layer should be firm but slightly jiggly in the center.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the pie cool completely before slicing. This allows the layers to set properly. Optionally, serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • The brownie layer should stay fudgy, while the pecan pie layer will set into a caramelized, nutty topping. If you want a firmer brownie layer, bake the pie a few extra minutes.
  • This dessert can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Let it come to room temperature before serving.
  • If you prefer a deeper, richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate cocoa powder for the brownie layer.
