Scale
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup (130g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting or sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip, or roll into small balls for simple cookies.
- Pipe or shape cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a hint of lemon zest or almond extract to the dough.
- If the dough is too soft to pipe, refrigerate it for 15–20 minutes.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
