Description

Bold and flavorful Cajun Salmon & Shrimp paired with silky, buttery mashed potatoes. A restaurant-quality dish you can make at home in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Season salmon and shrimp with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add potatoes to boiling water and cook until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
  4. In the skillet, heat olive oil and sear salmon fillets for 4–5 minutes per side until golden. Remove and keep warm. Cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  5. Drain potatoes and mash with butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Squeeze lemon juice over salmon and shrimp. Adjust potato seasoning to taste.
  7. Serve mashed potatoes topped with salmon and shrimp. Garnish with parsley or lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Pat seafood dry before cooking to get a perfect sear.
  • Warm cream before adding to potatoes for smoother mash.
  • Use fresh seafood for the best flavor and texture.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet — cook in batches if needed.
