This cheesy, savory quick bread is packed with sharp cheddar and garlic flavors. It’s an easy, delicious homemade bread that’s perfect as a side or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or spray a loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Set the bowl aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  • Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread light and fluffy.
  • Spoon or pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the bread on a wire rack. Once cooled, remove from the pan, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • If you like a cheesier bread, add more shredded cheddar on top before baking.
  • You can also use other cheese varieties, like mozzarella or Monterey Jack, for a different flavor.
  • Serve with a little butter on top for extra richness.
