Bring the spirit of Christmas to your baking with these Festive Chocolate Chip Cookies! Soft, chewy, and filled with gooey chocolate chips, they’re given a holiday twist with red and green sprinkles or festive M&M’s. Perfect for cookie swaps, holiday parties, or leaving out for Santa!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup red and green sprinkles (or festive M&M’s)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Fold in Chocolate and Festive Additions: Stir in the chocolate chips and festive sprinkles or M&M’s.
  • Shape and Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked (they will firm up as they cool).
  • Cool and Enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra holiday cheer, use M&M’s in red and green, or mix in both!
  • Make sure not to overbake the cookies; they’ll firm up as they cool.
