Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in buttermilk, then combine with dry ingredients. Stir in hot coffee until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly into pans and tap to release air bubbles. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool fully.
- For ganache, heat chocolate chips and cream until smooth. Cool, then whip until fluffy.
- Layer cakes with whipped ganache. Beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, and cream to make frosting. Frost the cake evenly.
- Chill 30 minutes before slicing and serve at room temperature.
