- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb crabmeat (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prep
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, crabmeat, diced celery, onion, and minced garlic.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour to create a roux, then gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the mayonnaise and grated cheddar cheese until smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 3: Combine and Bake
- Fold the seafood mixture into the sauce, then transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
