Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of crusty Italian bread
- 1 pound of fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup of cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Chop the shrimp into small pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until fully combined.
- Slice the loaf of Italian bread in half lengthwise and carefully hollow out some of the bread from each half to create space for the filling.
- Evenly stuff the shrimp mixture into the hollowed-out bread halves.
- Brush the tops of the stuffed bread with melted butter.
- Wrap the stuffed bread in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, until the tops are golden and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Frozen shrimp can be used—thaw and drain well before using.
- Substitute cream cheese with ricotta or Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
- Can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
- Add extra herbs or a sprinkle of parmesan for extra flavor.
