Description

These Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs are a comforting and flavorful dish featuring juicy meatballs simmered in a savory French onion soup sauce. With a delicious mix of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Swiss cheese topping, this easy slow-cooker recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups French onion soup (canned or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into 20-24 meatballs.
  • Brown the Meatballs (Optional): For extra flavor, brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side. This step is optional but adds a deeper flavor.
  • Add to Crock Pot: Place the meatballs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Pour the mixture over the meatballs in the Crock Pot.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
  • Serve: Optionally, sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top of the meatballs during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Serve the meatballs with sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce.
