Description

This Deep-Dish Pizza is thick, cheesy, and packed with savory layers of sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms beneath a bold tomato sauce. A hearty, Chicago-style pie that’s perfect for sharing or savoring solo.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage (cooked and crumbled)
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and place your deep pan or cast iron skillet inside to warm.
  2. In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll out dough and press into the hot pan, letting it go up the sides. Brush with remaining olive oil.
  4. Layer with mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. Spread tomato sauce on top and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbling. Cover loosely with foil halfway if needed.
  6. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Pre-bake crust for 5 minutes to avoid sogginess.
  • Let pizza rest before slicing to keep layers intact.
  • Sprinkle cornmeal in the pan for extra crunch.
