Description

This decadent Double Chocolate Ricotta Marble Cake is the perfect blend of rich chocolate and creamy ricotta, creating a moist and indulgent dessert. The marble effect adds a beautiful visual, while the flavors are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional, for added texture)

For the Chocolate Marble Swirl:

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Add the ricotta cheese and milk to the mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  • In a small bowl, prepare the chocolate swirl by mixing cocoa powder, sugar, and warm water until smooth.
  • Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared cake pan. Add spoonfuls of the chocolate mixture over the batter and swirl it gently with a knife or skewer to create the marble effect.
  • Pour the remaining cake batter over the chocolate swirl and swirl again to blend the two layers. (Optional: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top for extra chocolatey goodness.)
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Serve and enjoy your delicious, marble-swirl cake!

Notes

  • If you prefer a richer chocolate flavor, you can add more cocoa powder or chocolate chips.
  • This cake pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
  • Store any leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
