Description
Dutch Honey, also known as Vanilla Butter Syrup, is a sweet, rich, and velvety syrup that’s perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream. With a hint of vanilla and buttery richness, it elevates any breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and whisk to combine. Continue to cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream, whisking constantly to prevent curdling. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Allow the syrup to cool slightly before serving. It will thicken more as it cools.
- Drizzle over your favorite pancakes, waffles, or desserts and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer a thinner syrup, you can add a little more cream or milk to adjust the consistency.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks. Reheat gently before using.
- For an extra flavor twist, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg while simmering the syrup.
