Description

A cozy and savory French onion meatloaf packed with caramelized onions and rich flavor, baked until juicy and comforting. A classic dinner with a flavorful twist that feels like home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 680 g ground beef
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 120 ml beef broth
  • 60 g breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 100 g mild shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet and cook onions slowly until soft and golden, then add garlic and stir briefly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Gently fold the caramelized onions and shredded cheese into the meat mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and shape evenly.
  6. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes until fully cooked.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • Caramelize onions slowly for best flavor.
  • Do not overmix the meat to keep it tender.
  • Resting before slicing helps retain juices.
