Description
This French Onion Soup Baked Brie is the ultimate comfort appetizer. Gooey, melted brie topped with deeply caramelized onions, garlic, and thyme, served bubbling hot with toasted baguette slices for dipping.

- 8-ounce wheel of brie cheese
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons white wine (optional)
- 1 baguette, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes until deeply caramelized.
- Stir in garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and optional white wine. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Place the wheel of brie in an oven-safe dish or skillet.
- Top the brie with the caramelized onion mixture.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and soft in the center.
- Let sit for 2 minutes, garnish with extra thyme if desired.
- Serve hot with toasted baguette slices.
Notes
- Use room temperature brie for even melting.
- Caramelize onions low and slow for best flavor.
- Can be assembled ahead and baked just before serving.
