Ingredients

Scale

  • For the Cheesecake Filling:*
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
  • For the Sandwiches:*
  • 8 slices of white or brioche bread
  • 1 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Oil for frying
  • For Garnish:*
  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Sliced strawberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:
  • In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  • Fold in the diced strawberries. Set aside.
  1. Assemble the Sandwiches:
  • Lay out the bread slices. Spread a generous layer of cheesecake filling on half of the slices.
  • Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on the other half.
  • Sandwich the bread slices together, pressing gently to seal the edges.
  1. Prepare for Frying:
  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  • In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs and cinnamon.
  • Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated.
  • Dredge the sandwiches in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  1. Fry the Sandwiches:
  • Heat oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry each sandwich for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  1. Garnish and Serve:

  • Dust the fried sandwiches with powdered sugar.
  • Serve with whipped cream and extra sliced strawberries for garnish, if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider experimenting with different jams or fruits in the filling!
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve optimal crispiness.
