Granulated Sugar: 1 cup (200g)
Egg: 1 large
Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons
All-Purpose Flour: 2 ¾ cups (330g)
Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon
Salt: ½ teaspoon
Unsalted Butter (for frosting): ½ cup (113g), softened
Powdered Sugar: 2 cups (240g), sifted
Vanilla Extract (for frosting): 1 teaspoon
Milk or Cream: 2–3 tablespoons
Food Coloring (Optional): A few drops
Sprinkles: To garnish
Instructions
Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined.
Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mix to the wet mix until a dough forms.
Assemble the Dish: Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thick. Cut into shapes and place on prepared baking sheets.
Cook to Perfection: Bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are just lightly golden. Remove and cool on wire racks.
Finishing Touches: While cookies cool, prepare the frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Tint with food coloring if desired.
Serve and Enjoy: Frost each cookie generously, add sprinkles, and let them set before serving.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent spreading and deepen flavor.
Don’t overbake—edges should be just lightly golden.
Use gel food coloring for vibrant frosting colors.
