Funnel Cake Bites are irresistible, bite-sized fair treats made with a quick cinnamon-vanilla batter, fried until golden, and dusted with powdered sugar. They’re perfect for recreating the magic of the carnival at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Add the milk and vanilla extract, whisking to combine.
  2. Mix in the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Pour vegetable oil into a medium saucepan or deep fryer to about 3/4 inch deep and heat to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Drop batter by spoonfuls (or use a cookie scoop) into the hot oil, frying in batches.
  5. Fry each bite until golden brown, turning once for even cooking, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon or spider strainer and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
  7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or dip in your favorite toppings before serving.

Notes

  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized bites.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches for best results.
  • Try serving with chocolate sauce, caramel, or fruit preserves for extra fun.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes.
