Description

Classic grilled cheeseburgers with juicy beef patties, melty cheddar, and fresh toppings, all stacked inside a toasted bun. This backyard favorite is easy, satisfying, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns (sesame or brioche)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting buns)
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 810 pickle slices
  • 4 red onion rings (optional)
  • Ketchup and mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Form ground beef into 4 patties, adding a thumbprint in the center. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Place patties on the grill and cook 3–4 minutes per side. Add cheese slices in final minute and cover to melt.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Butter buns and toast on grill until golden. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion to the bottom bun.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Ensure patties reach 160°F internal temp. Let rest 2 minutes after grilling.
  6. Finishing Touches: Place cheesy patty on top of toppings. Add desired sauces.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Top with bun and serve hot with fries or salad.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest burgers.
  • Don’t press down on patties while cooking to retain moisture.
  • Shape patties slightly wider than buns to account for shrinkage.
  • Rest cooked patties before assembling for maximum juiciness.
