Crispy tostadas topped with flavorful seasoned ground beef, fresh toppings, and creamy sauces make for a quick and delicious meal. Perfect for weeknight dinners or a Mexican-inspired fiesta!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans, warmed
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Sour cream and guacamole (optional, for serving)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spoon (about 5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
  • Spread a thin layer of warmed refried beans on each tostada shell.
  • Top each shell with a portion of the seasoned ground beef.
  • Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, red onion, and cilantro.
  • Garnish with sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crunchy twist, sprinkle crushed tortilla chips on top.
  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or plant-based meat for a healthier or vegetarian option.
