- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 can (15 oz) refried beans, warmed
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Sour cream and guacamole (optional, for serving)
- Hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spoon (about 5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
- Spread a thin layer of warmed refried beans on each tostada shell.
- Top each shell with a portion of the seasoned ground beef.
- Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, red onion, and cilantro.
- Garnish with sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce, if desired. Serve immediately.
