Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 4 to 6 oval patties.
- Place patties in the hot skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter. Add onions and mushrooms. Sauté until golden and tender, about 8 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 1 more minute.
- Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir. Gradually whisk in beef broth. Let simmer 5 to 7 minutes until thickened.
- Return patties to skillet, cover, and simmer 10 minutes more to absorb flavors.
- Serve hot with gravy spooned over top.
Notes
- Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy results.
- Let patties rest a few minutes after cooking for best texture.
- Add a splash of cream to gravy for a richer flavor.
