Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Vanilla Glaze:

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (adjust as needed for consistency)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring (to desired color)

For Decorating:

  • Rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a heart-shaped donut pan.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fill the Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared heart-shaped donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add red food coloring a drop at a time, mixing until you achieve your desired shade of pink or red.
  • Dip and Decorate: Dip each cooled donut face-down into the glaze, letting the excess drip off. Immediately sprinkle the glazed donuts with rainbow sprinkles for a festive touch.
  • Set: Place the donuts on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer a lighter glaze, adjust the milk until you get the desired consistency.
  • You can use any color of food coloring for a different look or even add a few drops of a flavored extract to the glaze for a unique twist.
