Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) ketchup
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Mix well.
- Add seasonings: Stir in the lemon juice, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Cool and store: Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely. Transfer to an airtight container or bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Serve: Use as a dipping sauce or to enhance the flavor of steaks, burgers, or grilled vegetables.
Notes
- The smoked paprika adds a nice depth to the flavor but can be omitted if you prefer a more classic taste.
- This sauce can be used in various ways, not just for steaks—try it on roasted vegetables or grilled chicken!
