Description

Warm, soft, and buttery, this Homemade Naan Bread is the perfect companion for any meal. Easy to make with pantry staples, it’s soft on the inside with golden, bubbly char on the outside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Plain Yogurt
  • ½ cup Warm Water
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in yogurt, olive oil, flour, and salt to form a sticky dough.
  3. Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into 6–8 equal balls. Roll each into a ¼ inch thick oval.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Cook naan for 1–2 minutes per side until bubbly and golden.
  6. Brush each hot naan with melted butter and stack under a towel to keep warm.

Notes

  • For garlic naan, add minced garlic before cooking.
  • Keep cooked naan covered to retain softness.
  • Use a hot skillet to create signature bubbles and char.
