Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the warm water with yeast and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it’s nice and frothy.
- Gradually stir in the salt and flour, one cup at a time, until a dough starts to form.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Put the dough in a greased bowl, cover it up, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, which should take around an hour.
- Once it’s risen, punch it down gently and shape it into a loaf. Place it into a greased loaf pan.
- Cover once more and let it rise until doubled again, about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until it’s golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Let it cool before slicing into that delicious loaf you just created!
Notes
- To make sure the yeast is active, use water that’s between 100-110°F (37-43°C) for the best results.
- For a softer crust, you can brush the top of the loaf with melted butter right after baking.
