- 1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 10 oz maraschino cherries (1 jar), drained, patted dry, chopped, patted dry again
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted butter until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and water to the sugar mixture; beat until well blended.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in mini chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
- Cover and refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Scoop out rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared cookie sheet. Dough will be thick.
- Bake for 7-8 minutes, or until cookies are just set. Do not overbake.
- Remove from oven and let cookies cool on a wire rack.
- Store in an airtight container.
