Ingredients
Scale
1 cup salted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 cups chocolate chips (12 oz)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line three baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fully combined.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until light and fluffy, about 1 minute.
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and mix until evenly distributed.
Roll 2-3 tablespoons of dough at a time into balls and place evenly spaced on prepared baking sheets.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden brown.
Let cookies sit on the baking pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
Do not overbake—the cookies will continue to set as they cool.
Chill dough for thicker cookies or if baking in a warm kitchen.
Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies.
Substitute chocolate chips with chocolate chunks for extra texture.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to one week.
