Description
A vibrant, tart hibiscus tea known as Karkadeh. This refreshing drink is rich in color and flavor, served hot or cold, and naturally caffeine-free.

- 1/4 cup dried hibiscus petals
- 2 cups water
- 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or honey (to taste)
- Optional: cinnamon stick, cloves, orange peel, fresh mint
Instructions
- Boil water in a small pot or kettle.
- In a heatproof pitcher or teapot, add dried hibiscus petals.
- Pour the boiling water over the petals and let steep for 5–10 minutes.
- Stir in sugar or honey while the tea is hot.
- Add any optional spices or citrus peels if desired and steep 2–3 minutes more.
- Strain into cups and serve hot, or chill and pour over ice for a cold version.
Notes
- Steep longer for a deeper color and stronger flavor.
- Add sweetener while hot for best dissolution.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
