Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 410°F (210°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using) for added crunch and flavor.
  • Using an ice cream scoop, portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, ensuring enough space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden while the centers remain soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Using cold butter ensures the cookies remain thick and don’t spread too much.
  • Walnuts are optional but add a delightful texture and flavor.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
