Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, maple syrup, heavy cream, and salt. Stir continuously.
- Attach a candy thermometer and bring mixture to a boil. Cook until it reaches 235°F (soft-ball stage), stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla extract and sifted powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and thick.
- Fold in chopped walnuts. Pour into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Let cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Use real maple syrup for authentic flavor — not pancake syrup.
- Toast walnuts beforehand to enhance their nuttiness.
- Store in an airtight container at room temp or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
- Line your pan with parchment to make lifting and slicing easier.
