Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 250g (9 oz) fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Place mozzarella slices between two slices of bread to make a sandwich. Press edges gently to seal.
  2. In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs with milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Lightly flour the outside of each sandwich on both sides.
  4. Dip the floured sandwiches into the egg mixture, making sure they are well coated.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for best results—it holds together better when fried.
  • For extra crunch, coat sandwiches in breadcrumbs after dipping in egg.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
  • Avoid overfilling with cheese to prevent leaks during frying.
