Description

These light and fluffy matcha donuts are the perfect treat for St. Patrick’s Day! With a soft green tea flavor, they’re topped with a smooth matcha icing and a drizzle of white chocolate for an irresistible festive touch.

Ingredients

For the Donut Batter:
• 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ¼ tsp salt
• ½ cup granulated sugar
• 1 tbsp matcha powder
• ½ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Matcha Icing:
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1 tsp matcha powder
• 2 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
• ½ tsp vanilla extract

For the Topping:
• ¼ cup white chocolate chips, melted

Instructions

  • Prepare the Donut Batter:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and matcha powder.
    • In a separate bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Bake the Donuts:
    • Spoon or pipe the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
    • Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Make the Matcha Icing:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, matcha powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • Dip each cooled donut into the matcha icing, allowing the excess to drip off.
  • Decorate:
    • Melt the white chocolate chips and drizzle over the donuts for a festive finishing touch.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can make these in muffin tins as a donut hole alternative.
  • For a more intense matcha flavor, add a bit more matcha powder to the icing.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
