Description

These Salted Caramel Apple Pie Bars combine buttery shortbread, cinnamon-spiced apples, crunchy oat crumble, and a generous caramel drizzle for the ultimate cozy dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix 2 cups flour, granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup butter. Press this mixture into the bottom of your pan for the crust.
  3. In another bowl, toss diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
  4. Spread the shortbread mixture evenly in the prepared pan and press down firmly.
  5. Spread the apple filling over the crust.
  6. In a third bowl, mix oats, remaining flour, brown sugar, and butter to make the crumble. Sprinkle this over the apples.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and the apples are tender.
  8. Let cool completely, then drizzle with salted caramel sauce.
  9. Slice into bars and serve as desired.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor balance.
  • Let bars cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
  • Chill dough for a firmer crust layer.
  • Add chopped pecans for extra crunch.
