Description
This Shallot & Garlic Bread is a savory twist on classic garlic bread, featuring caramelized shallots and garlic blended with miso, chili flakes, and gooey cheese, finished with parsley and honey for a perfect balance of flavors.

- 1 loaf Italian bread (Pane de Casa or similar)
- 3 shallots
- 2 garlic bulbs
- 125g butter, softened
- 1 tbsp miso
- 1/2 tbsp chili flakes
- Cheese (mozzarella and parmesan mix)
- Parsley, chopped
- 1-2 tbsp honey
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C / 350F. Chop tops off garlic bulbs and shallots, place on foil, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Wrap in foil and bake for 1 to 1 hr 15 min until golden and caramelized. Let cool.
- Squeeze roasted garlic and shallots into a bowl. Add softened butter, miso, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Slice loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Spread mixture generously over both halves. Make slits in bread if desired for extra flavor infusion.
- Top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese blend. Grill or broil at 180C / 350F for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and top is golden brown (watch closely to avoid burning).
- Remove from oven, top with chopped parsley and drizzle with honey. Slice and serve warm.

- Caramelizing the shallots and garlic intensifies their sweetness and flavor.
- Use your favorite cheese blend for different flavor profiles.
- Keep an eye on the bread during broiling to prevent burning.
- Add more chili flakes for extra heat if desired.
