Description

A classic and comforting Southern-style tuna salad, this dish combines creamy mayonnaise, crunchy celery, zesty Dijon mustard, and the subtle sweetness of relish, all balanced with a hard-boiled egg. Perfect for a light lunch or a filling sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (7-ounce) can white albacore tuna, drained
  • 1 large hard-boiled egg, chopped
  • 1 rib celery, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sweet relish
  • 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chopped chives
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Flake Tuna: In a medium bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork.
  • Combine Ingredients: Add chopped egg, celery, sweet relish, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, and chives. Mix until well combined.
  • Add Mayonnaise: Stir in mayonnaise until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Serve: Spoon the tuna salad onto individual plates with crackers or vegetables for dipping. Alternatively, assemble sandwiches with toasted bread, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a dash of hot sauce or lemon juice.
  • This salad can be served on a bed of greens or as a filling for a wrap.
