Ingredients

- 2 cups plant based steak pieces
- 1 puff pastry sheet
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons malt extract or non alcoholic ale alternative
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- Sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and mushrooms in olive oil.
- Add plant based steak pieces.
- Sprinkle flour, then add broth and malt extract, simmer until thick.
- Transfer filling to pie dish and cover with pastry.
- Bake until golden.
- Let rest, then serve.
Notes
- Let filling cool before adding pastry
- Do not skip venting the crust
- Adjust seasoning before baking
