- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water (add more if needed)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or ghee (plus more for brushing)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Add oil and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal balls and roll each into a thin circle.
- Heat a skillet or tava over medium heat.
- Cook each roti for about 30 seconds per side until bubbles form and brown spots appear. Press gently with tongs to help puff.
- Brush with ghee or oil, stack, and keep covered in a clean towel.
- Serve warm with your favorite dishes.
Notes
- Use warm water to help achieve a softer dough.
- Don’t over-flour while rolling to prevent dryness.
- Resting the dough is key to soft results.
