Description

Creamy, maple-sweetened sweet potato casserole topped with buttery toasted pecans, this holiday favorite brings warmth and comfort to every bite. A perfect side dish for Thanksgiving or any cozy gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 4 large)
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mash sweet potatoes. Stir in maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix chopped pecans with a little brown sugar and butter if desired, then sprinkle over the top of the sweet potato mixture.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the center is set and the topping is golden and crisp.
  6. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use roasted sweet potatoes for deeper flavor.
  • Real maple syrup is key for the best taste.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the topping to balance sweetness.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate before baking.
