Description
A bold and zesty Greek steak marinade made with just five simple ingredients—perfect for tender, juicy steak bursting with Mediterranean flavor in under 2 hours.
Ingredients
- Olive Oil: 1/4 cup (adds richness and carries flavor into the meat)
- Fresh Lemon Juice: 3 tablespoons (brightens and tenderizes)
- Garlic Cloves: 3, minced (infuses aromatic depth)
- Dried Oregano: 1 tablespoon (earthy, herbaceous flavor)
- Salt: 1 teaspoon (enhances every note of flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: If grilling, preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Combine Ingredients: In a bowl or jar, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and salt.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Place your steak in a zip-top bag or container. Pour marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Assemble the Dish: Seal and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 2 hours, flipping once halfway through if possible.
- Cook to Perfection: Remove steak from marinade and pat dry. Grill or sear to desired doneness (medium-rare: 130–135°F).
- Finishing Touches: Let steak rest 5–10 minutes before slicing. Optionally drizzle with fresh lemon and a touch of olive oil.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve with a Greek salad, roasted potatoes, or tucked into a warm pita.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice and high-quality olive oil for best results.
- Do not over-marinate—30 minutes to 2 hours is ideal.
- Pat steak dry before cooking to get a good sear.
- Let steak rest before slicing to retain juices.
