Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • Red and pink gel food coloring

For the Glaze:

  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 34 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red and pink gel food coloring

For Decorating:

  • Valentine’s-themed sprinkles
  • Edible glitter (optional)
  • Wooden skewers or lollipop sticks
  • Green tissue paper or leaves for the bouquet

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  • Combine Batter: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Color the Batter: Divide the batter into 2-3 bowls. Add a few drops of red and pink gel food coloring to create different shades. Stir gently until the colors are evenly distributed.
  • Fill Donut Pan: Spoon the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Divide the glaze into separate bowls and tint with red and pink gel food coloring.
  • Glaze and Decorate: Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze, letting the excess drip off. Immediately decorate with Valentine’s-themed sprinkles and edible glitter.
  • Assemble the Bouquet: Once the glaze has set, gently insert wooden skewers or lollipop sticks into the bottom of each donut. Arrange the donuts into a bouquet shape, securing them with green tissue paper or faux leaves to resemble a bouquet of flowers.

Notes

  • You can customize the colors by mixing food colors to create various shades of red, pink, and purple.
  • The donuts can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container.
  • For an extra festive touch, add a small “love” note or a cute card with the bouquet.
