- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions
- Combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, garam masala, cumin, paprika, and salt in a bowl. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and cook until softened.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until mostly cooked through.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and brown sugar.
- Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream.
- Simmer for 5 more minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
