Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Topping:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-7 minutes. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  • Shape the Dough:
Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about 12×8 inches) on a lightly floured surface. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Add the Toppings:
Brush the surface of the dough with melted butter. Sprinkle the minced garlic evenly over the butter. Generously top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden around the edges.
  • Garnish and Serve:
Remove the cheesy bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top if desired. Slice into strips or squares and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a bit more flavor, add Italian seasoning to the dough or topping.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
