Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of potato soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked and cubed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment:

  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Brown the ground beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Sauté the onion: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the browned beef, onion, cream of mushroom soup, cream of potato soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
  • Layer the casserole: Pour half of the beef mixture into the prepared 9×13 baking dish. Top with half of the cubed potatoes and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining beef mixture, potatoes, and cheese.
  • Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.
  • Serve: Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use frozen hash browns instead of cooked and cubed potatoes for a quicker option.
  • For extra flavor, add some chopped bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture.
  • This casserole also works great with ground turkey or chicken if you want a lighter version.
