Ingredients
- Rolled Oats: 1 cup (100g)
- All-Purpose Flour: 3/4 cup (90g)
- Brown Sugar: 1/2 cup (100g)
- Baking Soda: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup (115g), melted
- Golden Syrup or Honey: 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the melted butter, golden syrup, and vanilla extract until a crumbly dough forms.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and gently roll into balls. Place them on the tray and flatten slightly.
- Assemble the Dish: Space the biscuits about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
- Cook to Perfection: Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers still look soft.
- Finishing Touches: Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve with tea or enjoy as a snack anytime.
Notes
- Use rolled oats, not quick oats, for best texture.
- Golden syrup gives them a classic flavor, but honey works too.
- Cool completely before storing to keep the crunch.
