Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and half of the cinnamon.
  5. Slowly combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients to form a soft dough.
  6. Mix the remaining cinnamon with a little extra brown sugar.
  7. Roll the dough into a rectangle and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the surface.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and chill for 30 minutes.
  9. Slice the dough into rounds and place on the prepared baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Whisk powdered sugar and milk together to create the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the slightly warm cookies before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough helps the swirls stay neat.
  • Do not overbake if you want soft centers.
  • Use room temperature butter for smoother dough.
